The Benefits

Ten Sing is a peer education project and young people learn from each other, resulting in multi skilled young people able to adapt to whatever situations they find themselves in.  Much of this comes from young people running workshops and leading activities.

Many skills develop through organising concerts and training / fun events, fundraising activities, using computers and technical equipment, and involvement in the management committee.

Ten Sing is run in a very democratic way young people share their ideas and vote on the options for action. We also hold elections every year so that young people can join the Management Committee.

Ten Sing gives young people more confidence and raises self esteem. Having the confidence to get on stage and perform to audiences helps young people with public speaking and overcoming shyness.

Teachers often comment that they can recognise Ten Singers because they are motivated and helpful. Skills learned through Ten Sing also help young people get jobs when they leave school.
